Sofie Koopen

Sofie is originally from Naarden, where she lived until she was sixteen. When her mother moved to Amsterdam, Sofie initially resisted the move fiercely, because she didn’t want to lose her friends. In the end, she decided to go along, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions she’s ever made: she ended up studying there, got to know the city, and made new friends. She now lives on her own in Amsterdam.

Sofie studies Political Science at VU Amsterdam and is set to graduate soon. After graduating, she’ll likely pursue a master’s in International Relations, but she’s first taking six months to figure out her direction. In the meantime, she’s putting that time to good use: she enjoys getting involved in charitable causes and giving back to society more broadly. She found her way to Viisi through Magnet.me and through Viisionair Jaap Kronenberg, whom she knows from her student association and who spoke enthusiastically to her about Viisi.

Outside of her studies and work, Sofie is an active member of her student association, where she can be found about twice a week for a drink with friends. She’s also often out running. A fun fact: Sofie loves music in other languages, especially French and Italian, but also Spanish and Brazilian, and listens to it more than Dutch or English music. She doesn’t speak the languages, but after hearing a song a few times she can sing along flawlessly by ear. She’s already been to two concerts by an Italian artist and will soon be heading to a concert by a French artist as well.
