Daan van der Spiegel
Daan grew up in Utrecht and recently moved to Amsterdam-Nieuw-West, where he shares an apartment with a friend — the same friend he traveled with through Central and South America for three months. After four and a half years studying Economics and Business Economics in Groningen, he is now pursuing a master’s in Business Administration with a Consumer Marketing track at the University of Amsterdam. During his bachelor’s he took a minor in psychology, which ultimately drew him toward the more people-oriented side of business. He doesn’t have a clear picture yet of where he wants to be in a year, but with such a broad degree, plenty of doors are still open.
He found his way to Viisi through a detour. After finishing his bachelor’s in February, he spent three months traveling through Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala with friends, followed by a month in Peru with his girlfriend. Back in the Netherlands, he was looking for both a place to live and a job, and ended up at Viisi through Magnet.me.
Outside of studying and work, Daan is happiest when he’s doing something social, cooking for friends, having drinks, people coming over. He played soccer throughout his time in Utrecht and might pick it up again now that he’s in Amsterdam. He also plays piano, though for now only when he visits his parents in Utrecht, since that’s where the piano lives.
